Overview

Merchandising supports Design in the Development and implementation of line plans and merchandising strategies that meet financial goals and customer expectations across channels. Reports on key product performance metrics and conducts rigorous ongoing seasonal and historical product performance analysis for a specified set of in-line styles, categories or divisions depending on business needs. Collects customer and key account feedback and reports on the competitive landscape. In addition, collaborates with Design, Development, Inventory Planning, Sales and Production to obtain and prepare all materials needed for key product meetings.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare weekly historical product performance reports at the divisional, category, class and item level

  2. Conduct seasonal and ongoing product performance analysis

  3. Manage wholesale and direct to consumer calendar timelines 

  4. Collect product feedback from sales teams, key accounts and direct customers 

  5. Provide feedback to inform future line plans and product merchandising initiatives

  6. Prepare seasonal divisional, category line plan maps

  7. Conduct ongoing market research and competitive benchmarking and prepare visual reference guides and reports 

  8. Collaborate with Product Development to ensure preliminary vendor costs are accurate

  9. Provide relevant historical sales data to Merchandising to develop preliminary forecasts for pricing strategy and margin meetings

  10. Maintain master cost data sheets (or equivalent), initial forecasts, wholesale and retail price points, going-in margin, and blended margin

  11. Maintain and update master style assortment line sheets

  12. Provide detailed, accurate product information for workbook, catalog, print ads, editorial, and website.

  13. Present product line to Sales, key accounts and customer service teams at sales meetings, pre-lines and trade shows

  14. Coordinate all product line reviews and sales meeting presentations
